The UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) has produced a set of Briefing Notes on biodiversity in preparation for the Rio+20 meeting. Briefing Notes as follows: 1) Synergies among multilateral environmental agreements and the Institutional Framework for Sustainable Development;  2) Biodiversity and ecosystem services indicators to track progress towards sustainable development;  3) Biodiversity and ecosystem services under a Green Economy in the Context of Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication; 4) Integrating biodiversity and ecosystem services into business decision-making.

AfriBES/AfriSEB is an information sharing and networking mechanism for biodiversity and ecosystem services in Africa. Supported by the French CIRAD (Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement).

Germany has set up a national focus for IPBES, the German science-policy platform of biodiversity research (NEFO). It hosted an international expert workshop on tools and methodologies for IPBES in December 2011 - scoping paper and other materials on the website.

Launched under the UK Natural Capital Initiative, the Ecosystems Knowledge Network is a mechanism for sharing knowledge on the ecosystems approach.
