Human Development Report 2011 just published by UNDP - emphasis on sustainability and equity.
The UK Parliament Commons Environmental Audit Committee has produced a report and written evidence on UK preparations for the Rio +20 meeting in 2012. Emphasis on stimulating discussion on the UK lead up to Rio, and the major issues for the summit - the green economy and the institutional framework for sustainable development. The UN preparatory process is ongoing, with the results of discussion and consultation on probable outcomes likely early next year.
The latest World Resources Report 2010-11 just published with an emphasis on adaptation to climate change. Worth seeing in the context of the run up to Rio +20
The 2011 report on the Millennium Development Goals has been published: provides essential context for understanding conservation of biodiversity in regions where poverty is a very serious concern. Summarises the lack of impact on forest loss, species loss, and refers to the 2020 targets. Useful lead up to Rio+20 next year.
Major conference planned for March 2012 in London - Planet Under Pressure - involving various ICSU organisations and UK science organisations. Part of the lead up to the UN Earth Summit in Rio in June 2012 - twenty years on from the first Rio Summit, and forty years after Stockholm. The NGO Stakeholder Forum on sustainable development also has a dedicated website giving information.
