Science Policy EU: Horizon 2020
Horizon 2020 is the next EU framework programme for research and innovation, due to start in 2014. A focus of research funds to the European Research Council, but with provision for research on emerging technologies, Marie Curie programmes and infrastructures. An expected emphasis on a range of industrial technologies such as biotechnology and nanotechnologies. Policy priorities are those arising from Europe 2020 for growth, productivity and cohesion:
- Health, demographic change and wellbeing;
- Food security, sustainable agriculture, marine and maritime research, and the bio-economy;
- Secure, clean and efficient energy;
- Smart, green and integrated transport;
- Inclusive, innovative and secure societies;
- Climate action, resource efficiency and raw materials.
