Biodiversity Science: extinction in reverse

Body:

Proc RS B - one-third of mammal species thought to be extinct since 1500 have been rediscovered at one point or another.    Correlates of rediscovery and the detectability of extinction in mammals: Diana O. Fisher and Simon P. Blomberg  September 29, 2010, doi: 10.1098/rspb.2010.1579
