Eurobarometer report 401 EB79.2 looks at Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), Science and Technology - public attitudes to science and technology. Covers engagement, attitudes, impact of science, ethics, young people, gender and open access. No mention of specific direct engagement experience such as museums or science centres.
The EU JRC Soil Portal makes soil datasets and atlases available. A new Soil Atlas of Africa has just been published to add to atlases for Europe, Latin America, soil biodiversity and circumpolar regions. Other data and more detailed mapping resources are also available.

"The first block, 'Excellence in the science base', will strengthen the EU's excellence in science, particularly through a significant strengthening of the spectacularly successful European Research Council.
The second block, 'Creating industrial leadership and competitive frameworks', will support business research and innovation. Actions will cover increasing investment in enabling and industrial technologies and support for innovation in SMEs with high growth potential.
The third block, 'Tackling societal challenges', will respond directly to challenges identified in Europe 2020. Its focus will be on the challenges of: health, demographic change and well-being; food security and the bio-based economy; energy; transport; supply of raw materials; resource efficiency and climate action; inclusive, innovative and secure societies"
CBD has announced that the EU and twelve member states have signed the Nagoya Protocol on ABS, bringing the number of signatories up to 37. Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Sweden and the UK have signed. Entry into force comes with 50 signatories.
