Environment and biodiversity policy UK: White paper on the environment and other related reports

Body:

A whole range of reports and a key policy vision from the UK Government on environment - a new White Paper The Natural Choice: this will determine strategic directions for a whole range of policy and funding in the next few years and is the first since 1990.  The White Paper is the next phase from the earlier Green Paper consulting on views for environmental policy.  A key evidence element in the development of the White Paper has been the UK National Ecosystem Assessment, and other background evidence is available.  Also just released:

  • a UK goverment response to the earlier review chaired by John Lawton focusing on biodiversity conservation
  • ThinkBIG - a broad review of themes relating to biodiversity and conservation from the England Biodiversity Group - a sectoral advisory group to the UK government that will presumably inform the anticipated England Biodiversity Strategy to replace the 2002 strategy Working with the Grain of Nature
